Midwifery department
In 2026 the Department of midwifery has joined the MiMo (Midwives Moving On) strategic partnership network. The network connects higher education institutions providing midwifery education across Europe and Australia, with the aim of strengthening sustainable international cooperation in education, research, and professional development.
The partnership is coordinated through an international steering committee elected every three years. Participating institutions actively contribute to collaborative initiatives, curriculum development, mobility activities, and research projects.
International Cooperation and Mobility
The MiMo network promotes:
- International exchange of students and academic staff
- Short-term clinical placements for midwifery students
- Joint workshops and academic activities
- Sharing of best practices in midwifery education and clinical training
Each year, selected students (who are selected through an application process) have the opportunity to participate in short-term clinical mobility placements with partner institutions during designated mobility weeks (2 weeks in autumn and 2 weeks in the spring semester). Academic staff also contribute to annual international workshops and educational activities organized within the network.
Joint Educational and Research Activities
Within the MiMo partnership, several collaborative educational initiatives and research activities is beeing developed.
The network additionally supports:
- Curriculum benchmarking and harmonization
- Joint research and scientific projects
- Development of innovative teaching methodologies
- International research collaboration in midwifery
- Knowledge transfer between academia and clinical practice
