The staff of the University of Ljubljana Office International Relations has prepared a Welcome Guide for Exchange Students, specifically for international students who intend to live temporarily in Ljubljana and study at the University of Ljubljana as part of an exchange programme.
The University of Ljubljana offers classes in the following languages: Slovenian and English.

Slovenian Learning Online is a freely accessible online course of the Slovenian language for foreigners, developed at the Center for Slovenian as a Second Language and Foreign Language in cooperation with the company DigiEd. The course is intended for those who want to learn Slovenian independently in a simple, fun and effective way.

Foreign students coming from EU member countries and European Economic Area countries should have E 128 form, E 111 form or E card. The type of document depends on the authorized insurance agency of the country of origin. That is, students should contact the authorized insurance agency where they are insured and ask for one of the above forms. Students should have appropriate insurance coverage (including accident and liability) when they come to Slovenia.

1. Your home university should first nominate you to the Office of International Relations of the University of Ljubljana. The nominations should be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
2. After your home university has nominated you to study at the University of Ljubljana as an exchange student, you should fill in an online application.
3. At the end of the online application you will find the necessary documents to upload to your application: Transcript of Records (of your home university), dully signed Learning Agreement and Language Certificate. Your application is complete and will be processed only after you have followed all the steps of the application system and entered all the required information.
4. After the Office of International Relations of the University of Ljubljana has received your application and the Faculty of Health Sciences has approved your application, they will send you an Acceptance letter and information on living and studying in Ljubljana.

Due to our internal organization at the Faculty of Health Sciences we offer the Erasmus+ exchange programme only in the spring semester.
Exchange students start their Erasmus+ mobility programme with a compulsory theoretical module and continue it with a clinical placement. The main objective is to offer all exchange students a common start and an opportunity for social, international and interprofessional networking from the beginning of the exchange period. After the compulsory module, students continue with the clinical placement based on their own professional interests.
